The lesson here, please PLEASE ensure what you are promised, is indeed communicated throughout ALL phases of your order. I think of my devastation, and only wonder what would I have done if this was a wedding cake I had been in charge of ordering and picking up?? What would I have done? How would a bride feel? She was due a "coral tinted buttercream cake" and picked up a white cake. I was also given a price, once again in writing, yet for unknown and unexplained reasons, the price increased $15 once it was time to pay. Have I complained of the price? No, because my aunt is worth every dime and more! Do I feel I paid for what I was promised? Absolutely not! I could have been informed that I needed suran wrap to cover the cake, as the packaging is NOT what one would expect when dealing with a licensed "bakery" and the price I paid. Those who saw the cake were too, astonished by the packaging, as they thought I'd used an individual to make the cake.
My favorite place!! The yummiest flavors and prettiest designs. Our family holidays are never complete without one their desserts! Great customer service and always a pleasure to order from here. They put so much heart into their work, which you can taste with each and every bite!
Oh I almost forgot, the taste of the cakes is simply to die for.
I am very disappointed in the Customer Service and the taste of the cake at this bakery. I sent many emails that were never responded to and Josh was not very responsive on the phone. I have called and sent emails regarding the taste of the cake and now they ignore me. We cut two pieces of the cake and had to throw it away. It was a pretty cake as far as the looks of the cake but not edible. The fondant was way too thick and I was told they would put buttercream frosting around it and under it. There was barely any. I had sent an email way before the cake was to be made to use buttercream on the cake and not fondant. No response. Not sure why they couldn't at least give me some credit back on my credit card. I guess they don't care about their reviews.
In closing, I will say the cake was beautiful and it tasted amazing. Yet, it IS NOT WHAT I WAS PROMISED, is not what I expected, and I will never forget this emotional experience.
Everything is done to perfection from the design, fresh ingredients, innovative packaging, and delivery.
Previously as you may have seen my review was a poor one of this business. Once the Owner, Lesley decided to resolve the matters with my niece who ordered the cake I want to say that I think she made a fair choice for everyone involved. The owner worked hard at resolving this matter and I recommend that any customer that goes to this Bakery deal with Lesley when she is available.
Communication from those involved hasn't been at a professional level and all that seems to matter is that positive reviews are left. A huge lesson learned for me! Please be sure your desires for your order are known by all involved. There is a huge possibility you may get heartbroken. Yet, I guess the taste of the cake is supposed to erase the experience??? NOT for me. Still in disbelief!!!!!
Skipping to the pick up-- a mere two hours before our surprise was to take place--total shock, heart broken, and true devastation. The cake was presented in a make shift box, taped with bright blue tape, and an open top. No covering over the cake at all. Shock! Once I peeped into the box, I saw a beautiful WHITE cake. Disbelief, confused, heartbroken!! I asked the receptionist (the individual who brings the cake out??), am I taking this with me? I was told yes. The wind was blowing quite briskly, and as I walked to my car with this cake, I did my best to shield it from debris. I sat the box in my front floorboard, got into the driver seat, looked at this cake again, and immediately felt sick, hurt, upset, heartbroken, devastated, and confused. I literally started crying. I wasn't sure what to do. I had failed at one of the most important pieces to this special event. I failed tremendously. I called back home, sent pictures and continued to cry. Thankful for my daughter in law and those at home, who knew all about this event. Knew of the thoughts and meaning behind what I was supposed to get in this cake, they began doing their best to comfort me.
First, let me say my intentions are not to hurt this business or anyone affiliated with, in any way. My intentions are to ensure that others are aware of what could possibly happen when ordering a cake from Shea's. I began my emailing all information of what I was looking for when ordering. I live in NC and was heading to a very special occasion, a 60th birthday surprise birthday party for my aunt, who lives in FL. All of this was explained in the beginning as well. There weren't a lot of specific requests; I needed the cake to be a coral color, beachy theme, and if anyway possible to include orchids in some fashion. I explained some of the "behind the scenes" actions that were all going to tie into the cake. I was promised, and have this promise in writing, a "coral tinted buttercream" cake. As plans progressed, it was suggested that the chef could pipe words along the outside of the two tiers. I was provided two pictures and asked what the additional charges would be for the words, and was told no additional charges.
Outstanding local bakery in Delray Beach with incredible cakes, cupcakes, pies, cookies, and pushup pops that look like they came directly from a competition on the Food Network.
